Mock Interview Programme at The Billericay School

What an incredible two days at THE BILLERICAY SCHOOL – and a powerful example of business making a real difference across the Borough of Basildon.

Over 45 businesses from across the borough volunteered their time to support the school’s Mock Interview Programme, working with more than 280 students from Years 10, 12 and 13 over 2 days.

Students had the opportunity to practise interview scenarios, refine their CVs and, most importantly, build confidence ahead of entering the world of work.

The programme was also supported by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), helping to bridge education and employment in a practical and meaningful way.

As Jill Willis, Enterprise Adviser to The Billericay School and Co-Founder of Attract & Engage, shared: “When employers give a few hours of their time, they don’t just help young people practise interviews – they raise aspirations and open eyes to what’s possible. This is what strong business communities do. We invest in the next generation.”

Huge congratulations to Kate Smith, Careers Guidance and Development Manager, for coordinating such a well-organised and impactful initiative. Bringing together 45+ employers is no small task.

The school will be running the programme again in February 2027 and is seeking volunteers from local businesses.
